Bocas Water Sports is pleased to announce that our next IDC will begin on January 29, 2012 at our facilities here in lovely Bocas del Toro, Panama. Bocas Water Sports has been in business since 1990 providing divers excellent instruction at a fair price. The IDC will be conducted by PADI Course Director Michel Lavoie. We feel that we make an excellent combination and our dedication to quality instruction is evident in the level of expertise that our students possess upon completion of their courses. We strongly believe that we have top-notch instructors which translate into top-notch graduates. We ascribe to the belief that you get out what you put in and we always strive to do our best to provide the best instruction we possibly can. The price for the IDC is $2,000 USD and assumes that the candidate is a certified PADI Divemaster or equivalent and meets all prerequisites needed to begin the IDC and the EFR Instructor courses. This price is inclusive of all course materials and PADI fees. You can elect to participate in only the first or second part of the IDC. In that case, do not hesitate to contact us to discuss the schedule and associated costs necessary for YOU to achieve YOUR goal. If you need to complete any of the prerequisites for the IDC, please contact us to discuss the necessary steps and costs needed to be prepared to participate in the IDC as well.

Course Director

The IDC, IDCS and Instructor specialty courses will be conducted by PADI Course Director Michel Lavoie. Michel's reputation is beyond reproach when it comes to conducting first class IDCs. Michel has 18 years experience training licensed instructors and 10 years experience training more than 140 PADI licensed instructors.

IDC

The IDC is composed of two parts. The first part leads to the Assistant Instructor rating. The second part leads to the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) rating the most prestigious and most universal Open Water Scuba Instructor rating. Before and after the IDC, several Instructor Specialties will be offered to IDC candidates and registered OWSIs or above. You may want to progress to MSDT or IDCS or even Course Director, join us to further your instruction, improve your skills, contribute to the formation of better candidates and, most of all, have fun, lots of fun.

Prerequisites

IDC candidates need to be:

PADI Divemasters or leadership level with another diver training organization including:
18 years old
100 logged dives with documented experience in night diving, deep diving and underwater navigation
If not a PADI Divemaster, successfully complete the PADI Divemaster course dive rescue assessment
Certified diver for six months
Medical clearance attesting to dive fitness signed by physician within the previous 12 months
Emergency First Response Primary and Secondary Care course completion (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months.

Additional Costs:

Living cost are the responsibility of each candidate. We have made tentative arrangements here in Bocas for apartment rentals at a rate of $14 per day. (This rate is subject to change.) This is based on double occupancy. The apartment consists of one room which includes a kitchen, TV, wireless internet, sofa and bathroom. It is not air-conditioned. We are happy to assist anyone in securing living arrangements being with this apartment complex or with a hostel, hotel, or other accommodation. This does not include meals. Meal costs here in Bocas will be from around $10 per day if you make use of kitchen facilities upwards to $25 or more per day. These costs are dependent on personal needs, habits, and desires and we do not guarantee any estimates to be spent on food.

The benefit of staying together in the accommodations are the ease of group study, mutual support, and the camaraderie of fellow students.
